Solution:

Our client, a car and scooter sharing software provider, approached us with the requirement to develop a robust segway rental management system. The solution we devised aimed to provide comprehensive remote management capabilities for a fleet of Segways.

At the core of the system lies the integration of the Segway’s in-built BLE module with our custom-designed hardware kit. This kit, comprising a Particle Electron integrated with a BLE module, is strategically placed on the edge of the Segway itself. This seamless integration enables real-time communication between the Segway and our backend infrastructure.

To facilitate data flow and system management, we developed a backend application utilizing NodeJS. This application serves as a bridge between the Particle Electron module and the popular short-term vehicle rental system application, FleetBird. This communication channel empowers users to access vital information about the Segway’s status, including usage time, battery level, and other crucial metrics.

Furthermore, the system empowers users with the ability to control the Segway remotely. Through the user interface, users can issue commands such as start, stop, lock, and activate the LED lights. This level of control enhances the overall user experience and streamlines the rental process.
