ESP32
ESP32 is a microcontroller unit (MCU) with integrated Wi-Fi and dual-mode Bluetooth connectivity. Moreover, it is a low-priced system on a chip microcontroller requiring low power. The ESP32 family consists of a series of chips including ESP32-D0WDQ6, ESP32-D0WD, ESP32-D2WD, ESP32-S0WD, and ESP32-PICO-D4. Furthermore, ESP32 is developed by the Chinese company Espressif Systems and made by the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company. In addition, the MCU contains a dual-core or single-core Tensilica Xtensa LX6 processor having a 240 MHz clock rate, inherent antenna switches, RF balun, power amplifier, low-noise receive amplifier, filters, and power management modules.
Why ESP32 is Used ?
ESP32, a microcontroller unit, has dynamic power scaling ability resulting in lower power consumption. Moreover, for IoT sensor hub applications, it operates only on the detection of a specified condition, reducing energy expenditure due to its low-duty cycle. In addition, it can function in industrial conditions with temperatures ranging between -40 degrees Celsius to +125 degrees.
The microcontroller offers a complete integration solution for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and IoT applications. Furthermore, its integrated advanced calibration circuitries eliminate external imperfections. ESP32 solutions are mass-produced without expensive equipment. Additionally, it boasts many security features like secure boot, flash encryption, cryptographic hardware acceleration, etc.
Applications for ESP32 include Generic Low-power IoT Sensor Hubs, Generic Low-power IoT Data Loggers, home automation, industrial automation, smart agriculture, and healthcare. It is a versatile microcontroller unit for a wide variety of IoT applications, aiding in delivering IoT product development solutions for varying industries. Consequently, the microcontroller enables devices to directly communicate with the cloud or send and device data to other devices using peer-to-peer communication networks. ESP32 allows for custom IoT solution development and cloud-based communication.
